Pulling your agency data from Applied Epic

Updated September 30, 2026

Short answer: You need a policy history that includes cancellations, and premium and commission by carrier by month. Ask Applied Epic support for an export with the fields below — or send them the request at the bottom of this page. Customer names aren't needed.

Applied Epic's report documentation is for customers only. The report names further down come from Epic consultants and Applied's user group, not Applied, so confirm them with Applied support or whoever administers Epic for you — and ask for an export with the fields below.

What to ask Applied Epic support for

  1. A policy / transaction history covering January 1 three years ago through the most recent date available. It must include:
    • A unique policy or customer ID (names are not needed — de-identified is fine)
    • Carrier and product / line of business
    • Written premium and agency commission
    • Effective date and expiration date
    • Transaction type: new business, renewal, rewrite, endorsement, cancellation
    • Status
    • Cancellations and non-renewals — not just the policies in force today
If it will only export active policies, ask for the same report as of twelve months ago too.
  2. Premium and commission by carrier, by month — last two complete years and year to date, with commission income and agency fee income shown separately.
  3. Written confirmation that your full book and its history can be exported (item 13).

Reports in Applied Epic that cover part of this

Named exactly as the source names them. Versions and licenses differ, so use the names to start the conversation with support, not as a promise of what your screen shows.

  • Book of Business – Billed/Est – Multi Layout: Policy-level estimated and billed premium and commission; layouts by "ICO, PPE, Pol Type, Dept, Producer, First Producer, and Branch"; lives in the Policy section of Reports/Marketing. (kitetechgroup.com · partner guide, not Applied Systems)
  • Retention Report – Multi-Layouts: Retention by policy count and estimated premium: "[(Total Policies – Lost Policies) ÷ Total Policies] x 100"; Detail and Summary by Producer, PPE and Branch. (kitetechgroup.com · partner guide, not Applied Systems)
  • Book of Business – Line: Line-level book of business; Applied's user group notes it "will not be accurate for Billed amounts if invoicing at the policy level." (aef74ece4099e58b4dd7-d5c21543bc89fb307518c30635b7df55.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com · partner guide, not Applied Systems)
  • DBCD Received report: "shows you which commissions were received within the specific session date(s)" (direct-bill commission downloads). (kitetechgroup.com · partner guide, not Applied Systems)
  • Policies Received report: Policy downloads received from carriers; called "the most widely used report". (kitetechgroup.com · partner guide, not Applied Systems)

Getting cancellations and history, not just today's book

Retention Report – Multi-Layouts counts losses from policies with cancelled statuses "CAN, CIR, or CNP" out of the box; agencies can add NON (Nonrenewed by Carrier) or CSD (Cancelled – Sold). "CRW – Cancelled – Rewritten to a New Carrier is not Lost Business and should not be counted as such." (kitetechgroup.com · partner guide, not Applied Systems)

How Applied Epic exports

Epic Dashboards (embedded analytics in Epic) let users "download data in preferred formats like PDF, CSV, or PNG" and "schedule the delivery of charts and reports to specific individuals via email"; dashboards can be filtered by "premium or commission". Partner guidance is to download the Book of Business report to Excel and use pivot tables. (appliedsystems.com)

About Applied Epic

Applied calls Epic "the most widely used and fastest-growing agency management system in the world" — browser-native, cloud, open API-based, built to scale for acquisitive agencies. Epic Dashboards add embedded analytics for "seven agency roles", including principals. (appliedsystems.com)

Where to get help

Copy-and-send request

Send this to support as-is. It asks for the output, not a particular screen, so it works whatever version you run.

Hi Applied Epic support,

I need two exports from our agency's data and want to make sure I get the right reports:

1) A policy / transaction history covering January 1 three years ago through the most recent date available. It must include:
  - A unique policy or customer ID (names are not needed — de-identified is fine)
  - Carrier and product / line of business
  - Written premium and agency commission
  - Effective date and expiration date
  - Transaction type: new business, renewal, rewrite, endorsement, cancellation
  - Status
  - Cancellations and non-renewals — not just the policies in force today
If the system can only export active policies, please also run the same report as of 12 months ago.

2) Premium and commission by carrier, by month, for the last two complete years and year to date, with commission income and agency fee income shown separately.

Customer names are not needed; IDs are fine. Excel or CSV works best.
Can you tell me which report(s) produce this, or run it for us? We'd also like written confirmation that our full book and its history can be exported.

Thank you.

Don't have all of it?

Send what you have. Partial data is better than none — we'll tell you exactly what's still missing. See the full checklist or start a confidential conversation.
